CAS SPLITCOAST STAMPERS WINTER DT SEARCH

HELLO Blogger friends.  I know it has been awhile since I have posted, but life just gets in the way sometimes.  However, I still create often because it centers and relaxes me...I just don't always have the time to blog about it!
However, I will share the creations from this week.  I have always followed and appreciated a site called Splitcoast Stampers.  Since I always gravitate toward Clean and Simple designs for my cards, I have frequently followed the CAS Monday challenge on this site.  Right now, they are looking for a new CAS Winter Design Team, and have started the challenge process this week.  I am honored to say, that I have made it to the top ten semifinalists!!   Woot! Woot!  Let me get you up to date.

The theme of this search was HOLIDAY MOVIE PARTY.  The first challenge was to make a card that showcased your favorite song from a Holiday movie.  I decided to do a medley of 3 of my favs..."Let it Snow", "White Christmas", and "Frosty the Snowman".  This is the card I submitted...

The second challenge was to make a card using one of three sketches that were derived from Holiday CDs...This was the sketch given from the "Night Before Christmas".
The card I made for this challenge was incorporating the basic layout of the swirl and square...I had a wreath stamp from Hero Arts that I loved but had never used...itswirled around....the pointsettias that were in the set became the other part of the sketch...this is that submission:
After this round was over, I found out that I had made it to the top ten, and would go on to the next and final round.  This challenge was to make a card showing something you would eat or drink at the "HOLIDAY MOVIE PARTY".  Fun Fun challenge.  I started looking at my stamp stash and had several set aside, but this image just was too perfect....and my became the center of my 3rd submission.

Although it is hard to see, IRL this is a very glittery, shiny, Holiday glitzed up card...very CAS, but full of partytime fun.  I LOVE how this little mouse is looking up adoringly at his gal....could he look more happy or content?  NOT!  That is why I chose this image...I want to spend my most special Holiday moments with those I love...for movie night, good food, cocktails, or game night...it does not matter...It is what the whole season is about...family and friends...right?

Wish me luck on the Winter CAS DT search...I will keep you posted.
Happy Sunday, and guess what...23 more days until Christmas!!  God Bless!

RONALD MCDONALD CHARITY BLOG HOP

Image

Good Morning blogger friends, and WELCOME to the Ronald McDonald House Charity Blog Hop sponsered by Great Impressions Stamps!  You should have arrived here from Elizabeth's blog!  If not, you will want to start at the Great Impressions blog, or continue on with the next blog at the end of this post.  You will definetely want to check out all the blogs, and their wonderful creations being donated to the RMH!   Also, stamping PRIZES are secretly hiding in several of the blogs, so please be sure to leave each blog participant a happy comment!  Winners will be announced on the Great Impressions Blog on Tuesday, October 2nd.

I created 3 different cards for this hop, all using the same stamp.  It is a sillouette stamp H184, that I have used many, many times since I got it, in many different ways.....hopefully my cards show how one stamp can do many things!  Here is my first card:

I tend to do CAS cards mostly, and this is a perfect example, of how a CAS card can still be elegant and fun.  I simply colored the stamp with Tim Holtz Distress Markers, spritzed the stamp with water lightly and stamped it for a watercolor look.  I wanted to continue with the soft feel, so finished it off with a punched edge to each side, and pearls.....quick!

This is the next card using the same sillouette stamp:

This card uses the double embossing technique.  I stamped and embossed the image and sentiment in black, sponged over it with multiple Tim Holtz Distress Inks, then ran it through my cuttlebug with an embossing folder.  It may be hard to see IRL, but the texture is so cool! The Thank You is also a stamp by Great Impressions that is a border stamp with multiple Thank-you sentiments...I just inked up one of them...the stamp is F308.....I also used it for the sentiment on the next cards as well. Here is the last card :

Again, CAS.....simply masked the oval and sponged inside it with Tim Holtz Distress Inks, then stamped the sillouette stamp and sentiment.  Before layering the image, I pierced around the oval to finish it off a bit.  Again, it is hard to see in the photo.

I hope you enjoyed my quick creations using my favorite GI stamp.  PLEASE hop on to Sue C.  I know you will love what she has to share!  Don't forget to leave some love on each blog!

Thanks for hopping by today to support the Ronald McDonaldHouse. The hop will be going on until Sunday night, so if you do not have time to see everyone's creations at one time, you have all weekend to participate!   Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend!!

God Bless......Tammie

SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS CAS FALL DESIGN TEAM SEARCH

BOY!!  How bad is this....I have not posted FOREVER!!  The summer is always so busy where I work, and this summer, we ended up losing two of our long time nurses, so the pace has been extra hectic.  I had to put stamping on a hold for awhile, except I did enter some cards for the fair last week that I will try to share when I get them back next week.
However, my friends that stamp with me know my love for CAS creations, so when I saw that SCS was starting their Design Team Search for the fall term, I thought I would give it a go.  I found out late, so really had one night to create the first two entries.  I will share them with you in one post today.

The first challenge was to use the colors of your favorite sports team to create a CAS card....quite a challenge for me,since my team,  the Denver Broncos, has orange, navy and white as their colors...not my comfort zone.  Anyway, this is what I came up with:
I used the SU set Button Buddies...{.big surprise right}LOL, Tangerine Tango and night of Navy CS and inks.  Also Night of Navy SU buttons....love the coordinating things!

The second challenge was to create a card using your top 3 favorite tools excluding paper and ink.
I chose to use:
1.  Tim Holtz Distress Markers
2.  Hero Arts Sizzix Stamp and Emboss Textures Impressions combo
3.  Button and twine together

This is the card:

I colored the stamp with the distress markers, and then spritzed with water before stamping....LOVE how the colors blend.  I will list the colors at the end of this post.  When the image was dry, I embossed it with the coodinating Embossing Folder...hope you can tell by the pic....SOO WAY COOL!  Looks wonderful in real life.  I rounded one corner, and mounted the whole thing on Kraft CS {another fav}, after wrapping the bottom with the twine and button.

Hope you like.

Check out the other entries on Split Coasts CAS site.

The marker colors I promised to list are:  fired brick, rusty hinge, wild honey, barn door, forest moss, peeled paint. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Happy Stampin,

Tammie

SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS CAS DESIGN TEAM WEEK

I wanted to get this posted yesterday, but my day at work was so long, and I was so beat, all I could think of was my BED!!  So, today was a bit better, although my internet was messed up ntil now.  Anyhow,  this week was my turn as Guest Designer on Split Coast Stampers Clean and Simple Monday challenge.  To get to this challenge just go to the home page, scro;; down until on the right side of the screen you see the different challenges for the week, and click on the Monday Clean and Simple bar.  Then you will choose CAS 175 which has the date of 6/18/12.  The challenge this week was this picture of a swimsiut:
Ruffle one piece

We were to use this picture as an inspiration for card....I have to admit, I was stumped at first.  Ilooked at the suit though and decided my card would be a black and white theme, with some sort of ruffle like component.  Easier said than done.  However, this is what I came up with:

The bottom I embossed with a Damsk style background stamp, and clear heat embossed it.  Then I die cut the Chevrons to resemble the ruffles.  The Butterfly has the same damask pattern as the background stamp on the bottom, and was also stamped and embossed. The butterfly was my take on the photo being a summer scene.  Of course in my world, not many cards are complete without a button somewhere, so I found a button in my stash for the center of the butterfly.
I was so excited to be asked to be a Guest Designer this week...what an honor!

Hope you like my take.....have a wonderful week!   Please check out the rest of the creations on the SCS site this week!

CAS 174 SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS

Happy Monday everyone.  Just a very quick post to upload a quick card I did tonight to participate in this weeks CAS challenge......white on white layers.  I started with embossing the flowers from SU set Fabulous Florets in white, and watercoloring them in with various shades of colors from the Tim Holtz line, and pearlized water for a pretty shine.  I fussy cut them out and mounted them on the doily, added the sentimemt and pearls, and layered from there.  The finished card base is 5x5 and I scored around the perimeter with my score board.  I liked the soft look of the white on white....love this challenge...may have to play along later again this week!  FUN!  Hope you like!
Also, I told you I would let you know when my Guest Design Team spot for the CAS summer session would be.  My date to be a guest designer will be next Monday, June 18th.  Check out all the awesome entries this week!
Have a wonderful week!     Tammie

SSD SKETCH CHALLENGE 131

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!!  Hope everyone has been having a wonderful week.  I have been under the weather with a cold, but while resting, I did some blog surfing, and my creative juices got anxious to get creating.

If you look at my older posts, you can tell that I was a past member on the Design Team for Skipping Stones Design Stamps.  Heather has so very many wonderful stamps to choose from.  Recently I purchased a new set I had not used yet called HeartSong 2...I already owned HeartSong 1 and love it.  I used both sets today on my card.

Every Tuesday SSD does a Tuesday sketch challenge anyone can participate in, and I really liked the sketch this week Cyndi Bundi.  I decided to get out the 2 sets and give the sketch a try.

This is the sketch:
This is the card I created using a color pallette I normally would not use....it was inspired by some Designer Paper I saw recently.  Anyway, here it is:
I fussy cut out the leaves....the rest is self explanatory.  Hope you like!  Hop on over to Skipping Stones and link up your own creation!

MORE CAS CARDS TO SHARE

I have sadly not been posting much lately so decided to do a quick entry this am. I have a couple CAS cards to share and a tiny bit of news.

If you know me at all, you know my style of stamping is almost always CAS.  I love letting the stamp take center stage.  Although I love embellishments, I tend to keep them at a minimum.  I like having a clean card, with open spaces.

I have been following the SCS clean and simple challenges they have every Monday for quite some time.  Recently I noticed an extra challenge posted on their thread above just the weekly challenge.  They were looking for a new Summer CAS Design Team.  The first challenge was to make fashion statement with flowers on a card.  I entered this card, and actually made it to the semi-finals!

I had bought the new Tim Holtz Distress markers and wanted to play with them.  So I used those and created this quick card for the contest.
I did not make it past the semifinals in this contest, but felt very honored to get that far.  My bit of news however, is at the Design Team Reveal Party for the 3 new Design Team Members, I found out that I was listed as being one of the Guest Designers sometime this summer!  I was so excited!  So, I will keep you posted when I find out what week is my turn.

This week, the new CAS Monday challenge was to create a card using Letters. I did not have much time after work last night and have a really rotten cold and cough, but decided to make a quick card....ended up being a mini set of cards...I LOVE mimi cards!  Here is my set of cards using a LETTERS theme.

I used the heart stamp from SU "Floral Fillers", and a random old "U" from an alphabet set I have had forever.  I made one each of the 2011 to 2013 SU " in color"  colors....Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, and Lucky Limeade.  I added a pearl in the corner of each heart, rounded the corners and there you have it!  Would be a fun set to give as a hostess gift or something.

Hope you have a wonderful week with time to play....I think we all wish for that!  Seems to center and relax me more than anything else.

God Bless..............Tammie

ALTERED TIN FOR SPONGE DAUBERS

HAPPY FRIDAY!!  I am so happy to have today off.  My to do list is long, and all I really want to do is retire to my stamp cave and PLAY. However, I better tackle my list first.  Before I do though, I wanted to share a quick post featuring an item I repurposed.

Last summer I found a few tins that originally contained "snuff" while hitting a few rummage sales with the girls.  I knew I would eventually find a way to alter them.  I threw a few sponge daubers in one and it has been on my stamping desk.  I recently decided to organize the daubers a bit more so I would designate a certain one for my favorite ink colors.  This is where using the tin comes in.  This is what the tin looked like to start with:
It has a really nice snap closure that is secure, and shuts tightly.  I found it the perfect depth to stand the dauber up, and still be able to close it.  So, the dilemma, of how to keep the daubers in one spot and not rolling all around in the tin became my project.  Enter the magnetic pin...I think that it what they are called....
I had originally bought a set at a local office store toput buttons on top to use as frig magnets.....never got around to it.....this is what I did with them.

I know the pic is BAD!  However, I simply put as many as would fit in the tin...they snap magnettically to the bottom really well...and put the labelled daubers over the top of the "pegs"!  Pretty nifty huh?  The daubers stay put and I have a color for each ink pad I use alot.  Another fun thing about this was I found out that the whole tin magnetically snaps to another tin when stacked, so I can add tins with more items in them, and they stay together for easy storage.  This is what the tin looked like all altered:

They really are fun!  Maybe you have a tin that would work in a similar manner....I do have to say, I tried the idea with an old Altoid Tin, but it was not quite deep enough.  Anyway, the point is, keep an open mind when looking at an item you may be ready to discard....ya never know what it may be useful for!
Hope you enjoyed the little tip.....Have a wonderful Friday...and a Blessed Mothers Day to all you mom's out there.  I will be back soon, with a canvas or two I have been playing with!

Blogger Blessings,
Tammie
